Use of the CTWS Credential
Certification and Recognition
CTWS is the designation recognizing the writer who has been certified in technical writing. Written together, the letters constitute a visual recognition resembling a logo. In writing, proper usage is without punctuation and is as follows: Jane A. Doe, CTWS.
Candidates who pass the test will receive a certificate suitable for framing with their designation as a Certified Technical Writing Specialist (CTWS).
Guidelines for Use of CTWS Credential
The CTWS® designation, as well as trademarks, logos, examinations and other materials of the CTWS, are the exclusive property of CTS and may not be used without the express written consent of CTS.
Revocation of the CTWS Credential
CTWS certification may be revoked under the following circumstances:
- Conviction of, or if you plead guilty or nolo contendere to, a criminal offense involving federal or state laws.
- Conviction of a felony.
- Submission of falsified or misleading application or test.
- Violation of the CTS Standards of Conduct, policies or procedures.
Before any credential is revoked, Certified Technical Writing Specialists will be notified of the reason for the proposed revocation and an opportunity to explain their position to CTS.
