Senior Medical Editor
Physicians’ Education Resource (PER Group), a medical publishing and education company specializing in oncology, has an immediate opening for a Senior Medical Editor. We are an established and growing organization located in Dallas, TX. This position will serve as second-in-command to the department manager and will include the following responsibilities:
• Edit and proofread manuscripts and other material to correct mistakes in data, layout, grammar, syntax, and style in keeping with PER and AMA standards
• Compare all data to references to ensure accuracy in keeping with PER standards
• Manage time effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards
• Assist in the management of editorial workload and help editors prioritize daily work flow
The ideal candidate will have:
• Knowledge of technical editing , proofreading skills, and a basic understanding of medical literature and research
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules and work flow
• Experience in creating processes and procedures to streamline work flow
• Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; Internet researching; and InDesign
Education/Experience (Minimum)
• BS/BA in the life sciences, English, or journalism; MS/MA desirable
• Three or more years of technical editing experience (medical/scientific editing preferred)
• Expert knowledge of grammar and editing rules; knowledge of AMA style guidelines preferred
• Experience in team leading/supervision a plus
