Web Writer/Designer —
From: Omedix  |  Location Scottsdale, Arizona  |  State  |  Posted: Jul 23, 2009 2:06 PM
Omedix is a market leader in helping doctors utilize the Internet. We manage the websites and online marketing strategies for some of the best-known practices in the country in a variety of medical specialties ranging from sports medicine to cardiology to anti-aging medicine.

About this Position
We\'ve experienced rapid growth lately and are looking for a talented writer who can spin some pretty nifty copy for the Web, and who feels comfortable with the technology behind the Web (basically Dreamweaver, Photoshop, XHTML), or can show evidence that you’re capable of learning. In other words, we’re seeking a Junior Web Writer and Designer and it could be you!

Your Anticipated Psychology
“I’m a smart person, I’m passionate about web design, and I really enjoy writing. I just need an opportunity to apply those talents somewhere and show the world what I’m capable of.”

Our Actual Psychology
“We’re looking for a person who’s smart, passionate about Web design, and loves to write. This person will also be judged by the cleverness of their T-Shirts (or at least will make them think so). And if they’re so good at writing, they should at least have a cover letter that shows it!”

Your Primary Responsibilities
- Produce as much of the content for the website as you can handle
- Insert this content into the website using Dreamweaver or another editor
- Format the content with style and pretty pictures to make it glitter and sparkle
- Carry out basic Photoshop tasks like building banners and crop/resize photos
- Can handle basic design challenges and hold your head high when done
- Review the final website for grammar, spelling, and overall flow of the website

Bonus Responsibilities (if you can handle them!)
- Work directly with the client, interview them, and write some snazzy content!
- Concept out a completely new website design (we do have pretty high standards, though…)
- Serve as the primary project manager on multiple sites!
- Implement cool javascript effects using tools like jquery! (no biggie if this piece isn’t a fit)

Compensation
First let’s see what you’ve got. Compensation will depend on experience, skill, and various subconscious factors of which we are not yet aware.

Required Skills
- You can write like nobody’s business
- You get the whole Web thing, and you are rather fond of Web 2.0
- You can take various inputs and magically transform them into great writing
- You are “conversational” in Photoshop
- You’ve heard of this person, Dreamweaver, and spent some time together before
- You snicker when someone asks if you know Microsoft Word and Excel
- You are familiar with XHTML/CSS and think she’s different but cool
- You are comfortable on the phone talking with clients
- You are comfortable learning new technologies
- You are conversant in how to refresh a web page (long story on this one…)

Recommended Traits
- You fancy yourself a well organized and creative person
- You pride yourself on your potent command of the English language
- When left to your own devices you find a way to just get the job done
- The words “on time” hold great meaning for you
- You are open and honest about your work
- You are capable of working productively on your own, but enjoy working as part of a team
- You take pride in the work you produce but are still open to constructive feedback
- You are reliable and professional
- You are efficient
- Details are important to you

Recommended Experience
- You have proven experience or education doing writing
- You can somehow demonstrate basic skill in Web design
- You can somehow demonstrate that you like Web stuff

About the Position
- This is a full-time position
- You\'ll be working mostly onsite here in our Scottsdale office that overlooks the Kierland Golf Course
