Startel Corporation, a leading provider of call center solutions for the Telephone Answering Service and Healthcare market, is seeking a 1099-basis contract Technical Writer/Technical Communicator.
As a contract Technical Writer based out of Irvine, CA, you will be maintaining existing product guides on a release basis, as well as creating new hard copy user and installation guides. You will also help in creating a unique help system that is delivered both as a local system on the product CD, and also as a web-based system.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
•Maintain existing manuals using both FrameMaker and MS Word.
•Create new hard copy manuals, using MS Word.
•Help create a help system by converting existing FrameMaker produced documents into MadCap Flare format. You will also have to convert some Word documents into Flare format.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
•At least five years experience at a Senior Technical Writer level.
•Highly proficient using FrameMaker.
•Highly proficient using MS Word.
•Proficient using MadCap Flare.
•Proficient in .HTML and .CSS.
•Proficient using HTML editors.
•Proficient using a major graphics editor, preferably PhotoShop, SnagIt Editor, or MadCap Capture.
•Able to perform client-side programming using JavaScript.
•Must be a quick learner and able to understand complex hardware and software system interaction.
•Must be able to interview SMEs and get most information you need the first time.
•Must be creative, love your profession, and be a “user first” writer and designer.
•Must be able to fit into a family-like environment.
PREFERRED
•Ten + years experience at a Senior Technical Writer level.
•Familiarity with Information Mapping.
•Knowledgeable with networks and server-based product delivery.
•Knowledge and experience documenting Telephone Answering Service (TAS) industry, as well as healthcare telephone system, practices and procedures.
