Eligibility Requirements for 2009
To sit for the CTWS examination, candidates must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:
1. Completed, or expect to complete within the next twelve months, a minimum of a BS or BA from an accredited college.
OR
2. Completed a minimum of 3 years of paid technical writing experience where duties performed are primarily technical writing.
OR
3. Successfully completed a program with special recognition in technical writing, or stand-alone technical writing program. CTS reserves the right to audit and verify any and all eligibility requirements.
CTS may randomly audit candidate eligibility and may request physical documentation of technical writing and/or educational experience. Eligibility for the CTWS examination and maintenance of the CTWS credential once achieved requires adherence to the CTS Standards of Conduct. To register for the exam, candidates are required to select an option that they have read and agree with the CTS Standards of Conduct. Violations of the CTS Standards of conduct may result in loss of eligibility to sit for the CTWS examination or the suspension or revocation of the CTWS credential.
